University to assist in earthquake relief donations
Press Release Date: 01-22-2010
DURANT, Okla. – The Office of Student Life is partnering with the Southeastern Oklahoma State University community to support relief efforts for those impacted by the massive earthquakes in Haiti.
Haiti was struck by a series of earthquakes this month, resulting in widespread destruction and a still-rising death toll.
The Office of Student Life will accept cash and check donations to aid the American Red Cross. To donate, bring cash or a check made payable to the American Red Cross (IRS). In the memo, please write Haitian Relief.
Please bring donations to the OSL office, Suite 305 in the Student Union.
Donations of $10 may be made to the Red Cross by sending a text message with the word "Haiti" to 90999. Donors will be charged through cell-phone bills.
Collection sites in the Student Union (305) and the library (main entry) will be set up as drop-off points for blue jeans for homeless teens in Haiti. This is in partnership with Aeropostale. For every 100,000 pairs of jeans collected, the company will donate another 100,000 pairs of jeans.
The Office of Student Life will host a "Change for Haiti" campaign from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 5 with one table in the Student Union Atrium and another in the library. The OSL will be collecting for Haitian Relief to be given to the Red Cross. Minimum donation is 25 cents.
