- SE Disc Golf Club earns Division 2 championship at Oklahoma Collegiate Showdown
McALESTER, Okla. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Disc Golf Club claimed its third championship in two years, taking the Division 2 crown at the Oklahoma Collegiate Showdown, held at Buffalo Run Disc Golf Course.
Senior standout Andrew Palmer led the way with a program-record opening round of 60, earning a Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA)-rated 936 round and helping the team achieve a strong average score of 66.75. In the afternoon doubles competition, SE faced a tough challenge from Oklahoma Christian in a tense alternate-shot format. The Savage Storm secured the title with a solid 3-under par, marking another highlight in their successful fall season.
Team members are Palmer, Daniel Lasater, Joey Reiter, and Chase Taylor, and each played key roles in the victory.
“This team has a ton of potential for being such a young club and will be in contention for years to come,” said Palmer, who serves as team captain.
Club Advisor and Coach Mike “BigFoot” Delloro praised the team’s resilience, particularly Lasater, who had secured his first-ever PDGA Singles victory the previous day and carried that momentum into the team event. “I’m proud of the way our guys battled on a very tough course,” said Delloro.
Delloro also highlighted freshman Reiter describing him as a “reliable anchor” with great potential in the sport.
“Joey can crush it and always plays to his strengths. He’s going to keep getting better and better,” said Delloro, who also commended Taylor for his consistent doubles play, including clutch putts and precise disc placement.
Next up, the Savage Storm will defend their title against East Central in the Battle for BigFoot’s Cup on Saturday, November 16, at Wintersmith Park in Ada. Southeastern aims to retain the cup for the third straight year.
