Career Services hosts Eighth Grade Discovery Day

The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Career Services office hosted its annual Eighth Grade Discovery Day on Thursday, February 6, 2025. A total of 591 students and 36 counselors from Durant, Achille, Bennington, Boswell, Caddo, Calera, Colbert, Legacy Christian, Rock Creek, and Silo schools attended the event.

Eighth graders attended presentations regarding potential career and educational paths in fields such as the arts, architecture, aviation and transportation, computer and information technology, media and communications, film industry, healthcare, law practice, law enforcement, education, oil and gas, veterinary science, manufacturing, hospitality, and construction.

Cardinal Glass was the Platinum Sponsor for the event, with Commercial Metals, the Southern Workforce Board, Southeastern Career Services, and the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce serving as Gold Sponsors. First United Bank was a Silver Sponsor and Shamrock Bank, First Texoma National Bank, Indian Nation Wholesale, Southeastern Oklahoma HR Professionals, and WoodmenLife also sponsoring the event.
