The departments of Theatre and Music at Southeastern Oklahoma State University are excited to present three performances of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.
Performances are scheduled for Thursday, February 20, Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 21, in historic Montgomery Auditorium. Each show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and are available at www.SE.edu/VPAC or by calling the box office at (580) 745-2696.
Based on Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel, The Lightning Thief follows Percy Jackson, a teenager who discovers he is the son of Poseidon and embarks on a mythological adventure filled with humor, heart, and high-energy rock music with a live band conducted by Dr. Michael Scheuerman. This action-packed musical brings Percy’s epic quest to life, making it a must-see for fans of Greek mythology and musical theatre alike.
“This show is an electrifying blend of humor, heart, and adventure,” said director Ruby Quinn. “With a dynamic cast and a powerful score, we are excited to bring this story to life for audiences of all ages.”
Under the musical direction of Dr. Jeremy Blackwood and choreographed by Riley Risso Coker, this rock musical will attract audiences of all ages.
“This is an incredible opportunity to take on such a beloved role and present it as my own,” noted Diego Cruz Perez, a junior CIS and music major at Southeastern, who portrays Percy Jackson.
