Guide For Campus Guests

Many events occur on Southeastern’s campus which invite external guests to visit, including scholastic academic competitions, performances in theater, music, and art, athletics competitions, guest speakers, awards presentations and more. We hope this guide will be of assistance to campus guests.

Parking Open Close

Parking areas are available in various spots on campus and are noted on the campus map. Each lot has rules posted at its entrance.

Police and Emergency Services Open Close

If a need arises for campus police assistance, please call (580) 745-2727. If there is an immediate risk to life property or personal safety, please call the Bryan County Communication Center at 911.

The SE Police Department is staffed with fully certified and sworn full time police officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are on campus and available on all weekends, holidays, and breaks.

Our officers have full arrest powers and can enforce State law as well as Campus rules and regulations.

Our jurisdiction can expand beyond campus property when the need arises and the same applies to the Durant Police Department when they are on our campus.

Services offered include jump starts, airing up flat tires, opening locked cars, crime reports, escorts to areas of campus, directions, welfare checks and more.

Police Call Boxes are available at various locations on campus, as noted on the map.

In the event of a storm emergency, shelters are located at:
– Morrison Basement and Custodial Break Room
– Fine Arts Basement and Little Theater
– Hallie McKinney Basement
– West Locker Room under Paul Laird Field bleachers
– Bloomer Sullivan Arena men’s and women’s locker rooms
– Biological Science archive room

Prohibited Items Open Close

All state property is tobacco and vape-free. This tobacco-free/vape-free campus environment includes any and all Southeastern owned, leased, rented, or maintained property including but not limited to buildings, facilities, sidewalks, roadways, parking lots, and grounds. Campus also includes all University owned, leased, or rented vehicles. Campus may not include any owned properties which are leased to third parties under long-term leases.

All state laws regarding the use of intoxicating agents such as alcohol or drugs apply to the Southeastern campus. Additionally, even though marijuana is legal for use with a medical marijuana card in the state of Oklahoma, it is still banned from possession or use on campus.

At Southeastern Oklahoma State University, no person – even those in possession of a valid handgun license issued pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act – shall be authorized to carry a firearm into or upon any part of the University Campus, except as provided in 21 O.S. §1277. Persons in violation are subject to removal and or arrest.
